Anna Bastek, co-founder of Swansea based multi-award winning company Wolfestone Translation, is set to talk to young, disadvantaged women from Portmead, a disadvantaged area of Swansea, this Friday.

The event marks the launch of a locally created book titled ‘Shining Stars’ and coincides with International Women’s Day.

Ms Bastek, now IoD Director of the Year, will share her own story of setting up a business and the challenges she encountered and overcame when setting it up.

Her rapidly expanding language services company was established six years ago and now is the 6th fastest growing Welsh company. Originally from Poland, Ms Bastek relocated to the UK to take advantage of the opportunities here.

“I’m very pleased to be involved in the book launch. I hope it will inspire women to make changes in their lives. I’m also happy to have the opportunity to share my story; how I arrived in Wales from Poland, establishing myself in a new culture, and the obstacles I faced in building a multi-award winning business from scratch. We all have the potential to be successful but need a lot of determination and drive to fulfill it.”

The launch takes place on Friday 8th March, midday at St Teilo’s Church in Portmead.

In further acknowledgment of International Women’s Day, Ms Bastek will address girls at Ffynone House School on Monday 11th March, offering careers advice and insight into her own entrepreneurial experiences.
