The window of opportunity for young musicians

musicians

They may come around but once a year, however for young professional musicians the Live Music Now open auditions offer the chance of a lifetime. The closing date for applications is March 14th with auditions held on April 25th at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in Cardiff. 15 Feb 2013

Live Music Now was founded by the late Yehudi Menuhin in 1977 and since 2002 Wales has been the central hub for all LMN auditions in the UK. The competitive process, under the stewardship of Gillian Green, provides young professional musicians, if chosen, with invaluable performing experience across venues, large and small. In turn, audiences benefit as the aim is also to take high quality performances to people who would not otherwise have access to live music.

Gillian Green, Director Live Music Now Cymru Wales, said, "I always look forward with great anticipation for the Live Music Now audition season. We get the privilege to listen and select the best talents available from all musical genres to join the scheme and provide them with a valuable stepping stone between study and professional life. I’m proud to say Live Music Now offers unique performance and workshop opportunities across a wide range of musical traditions and cultures to musicians who are at the very start of their careers.

"Without doubt, being chosen to join the scheme provides formative experiences which money cannot buy for any musician setting out on their professional career. I would encourage any aspiring musician to apply for the chance to possibly embark on one of the most exciting musical journeys of their lives."

Anybody interested in applying should contact Live Music Now before the March 14th deadline by email on wales@livemusicnow.org or call 02920 554040.
