Wilko team members from the Aberdare store, situated on Cardiff Street, have raised over £280 for their regional charity of the year, Wales Air Ambulance, after going the extra mile by holding a sponsored walk.
Joined by family and friends, the team members recently donned charity t-shirts and embarked on a three hour circular route from the store, around the Dare Valley Country Park and back again.
Team members encouraged customers, friends and family to dig deep ahead of the walk, in order to raise as much money as possible for the local charity which provides emergency air cover for those who face life-threatening illness or injuries.
Debbie Pryce, store manager at Wilko in Aberdare, said: “There were certainly some sore legs afterwards but the whole team really got into the spirit of the day and thoroughly enjoyed the walk. It’s resulted in a great amount raised for Wales Air Ambulance and we’d like to thank everyone for the support in helping us to achieve this brilliant total.”
Mark Stevens, fundraising manager at Wales Air Ambulance, said: “All the funds raised by Wilko, including the fantastic amount raised through the Aberdare store’s sponsored walk, will go a long way to helping us to provide the best possible emergency response to people across Wales.”
