Welsh legends to open sporting centre

Breeze

Two of Wales’ most successful male and female athletes will officially open a brand new gym in the heart of the South Wales Valleys this weekend.

Sprint hurdler Colin Jackson will be the star guest to officially open Breeze’s Gym in Aberdare, with owner and gold medal winning weightlifter Michaela Breeze.

Breeze and partner Sinead Kelly have refurbished St David’s Church in Aberdare town centre to bring a totally different venue to the area for both general fitness training and their elite weightlifting performance centre.
Breeze had an 18-year career on the International weightlifting stage included representing Team GB at two Olympic Games and medalling at three Commonwealth Games for Wales, including golds in Manchester 2002 and Melbourne 2006.
Her last competitive performance saw her take silver as captain of Team Wales in Delhi in 2010. She has now given up her PE job in Devon to return to Wales to open the centre.
Colin Jackson will help officially open the gym between 4-6pm on Saturday 19th January at Breeze’s Gym, High St, Aberdare, CF44 7AA. Tours of the facility will be available.

The project has cost more than £500,000, which has included a £50,000 investment from Sport Wales and financial support from Rhondda Cynon Taf Council.
