Welsh Health Service miss treatment targets

RCT N

Wales Online reports that the number of people waiting more than 36 weeks to start NHS treatment reached a new high towards the end of last year. This is despite a Welsh Government target that no patients should wait that long.
In Cwm Taf 1,329 patients had been waiting more than 36 weeks to start treatment by the end of November as StatsWales figures show.
The Welsh Government also has a target for 95% of patients to wait less than 26 weeks until the start of their treatment. This was also missed.
As of the end of November there were a total of 36,838 people waiting to start treatment. Of those 3,192 waited between 26 and 36 weeks. Whilst it is far from being the worst performing Health Board in Wales then it is a sign of just how badly the Welsh Labour Government are failing the Health Service that so many are unable to access timely treatment.
