Welsh Government consultation on Declaration of Rights of Older People opens
The Welsh Government has now opened its consultation on plans for a Declaration of Rights of Older People. The consultation will be open until March 15, 2014.
Benefits of the declaration
The proposed declaration would clearly set out the rights that older people have. This information would help statutory bodies and service providers who work for, or on behalf of older people to know what is expected in Wales.
It would include guidance on what is expected to ensure older people receive the support and services they need. It would also help older people to know what their rights are by clearly setting out their entitlements.
How to make your views known
The Welsh Government would like views from people of all ages but particularly would welcome comments from:
Black and Minority Ethnic interest groups
Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender interest groups
Care and support workers
Organisations made up of older people
Organisations which provide services to older people
Organisations which work for or on behalf of older people
Education and Training provide
