Members of the Montgomery Federation – overall winners of the Butchers Lambs and Butchers Beef Stock judging competitions at the Royal Welsh Winter Fair pictured with Kate Miles, Wales YFC Chairman

YFC members from all over Wales travelled to the Royal Welsh Agricultural Winter Fair to compete in a variety of competitions which were held over the two days.

Counties competed against each other to take the honours in the Wales YFC / FUW beef and lamb stock judging competitions, where the Montgomery Federation was the overall winners of both competitions. In joint second place were Brecknock and Radnor Federations.

Members also took part in other competitions which included the Randal Parker Foods carcass judging, lamb trimming and a decorate a Christmas wreath.

Gwennan Davies, Chairman of Wales YFC Competitions Committee said,
“This year we have experienced extremely high standard, this is an event that really showcases the talents of rural youth. The members of the movement, who have competed here in the last two days, have displayed eagerness and passion for agriculture. They have worked extremely hard to prepare their breeding stock or practicing for the stock judging and lamb trimming competitions. Congratulations to all who competed and thank you for displaying the fruits of their labour to farmers in Wales and beyond. My sincere thanks to all judges, stewards and sponsors for their continued support towards the Wales YFC events, without their support it would be difficult to maintain such a varied program.”
