Wales YFC are currently busy preparing for the European Rally which will take place in Margam Park on 9th – 16th August 2014.

The European Rally is an annual event organised by the European committee for YFC’s, Rural Youth Europe. During the event a number of different teams of YFC members from across Europe will meet to participate in activities designed to bridge the gap between members from different cultures and backgrounds. The members will also be given the opportunity to interact socially with like-minded individuals from different countries.

This year Wales YFC has the honour of hosting the Rally and is currently planning a week of events and activities based on the theme “Tomorrow’s world – Creating a sustainable future for you, your organisation and your rural community”.

The objectives of the project are for young people to engage with young people from different cultures, and learn from their experiences as well as gain new transferable skills that will help their own personal development, support the organisations that they are involved with as well as supporting their own rural communities. During the week the delegates will be embracing Welsh culture, food and local towns and cities, showcasing the best of Wales

Deputy Minister, Rebecca Evans will be attending the opening ceremony of the European Rally on Sunday 10th August.

Wales YFC’s European Rally Chairman, Aled Jones, said; “With this being the 50th anniversary since Wales YFC first hosted the European Rally, it is very appropriate that the Rally should return Wales and we are all looking forward to what will be a memorable week. Final preparations are going well and a jam-packed programme awaits the (75+) European delegates that will descend on Margam Park next week. My thanks go to the excellent prep team that have worked tirelessly to ensure that our European counterparts have an unforgettable experience of Wales – I can’t wait!”
