Gwawr Hatcher,

During the Wales YFC Entertainment Feast recently, the Wales YFC Junior Member of the Year Competition, which was kindly sponsored by JCP Solicitors’ Rural Practice Team, was held. Judging the competition was Rhiannon Dafydd, Past Wales YFC Chairman, Richard Parry, also a past Wales YFC Chairman and Jan Roberts, Clwyd YFC. The title of Wales YFC Junior Member of the year for 2014 was given to Gwawr Hatcher, Llanwenog YFC, Ceredigion.

Before the competition all candidates for the junior member of the year competition had to submit a CV detailing their activities within the YFC, as well as listing their experiences of leadership, teamwork, charity or voluntary work and others skills on paper and producing a PowerPoint presentation to present to the judges during a formal interview.

Wales YFC’s Competitions Chairman, Gwennan Davies, said;
“The standard of entries from across Wales was outstanding. These young people are dedicated members of YFC who have worked hard within their clubs and who have exceptional knowledge of the movement at Club, County and Wales level.”

Gwawr, who is 18 years old, is currently studying Welsh, health & social care and music at A Level and in the future hopes to travel before furthering her education at college or university. She is an avid member of Llanwenog YFC where she has enjoyed success in competitions such as public speaking and various Eisteddfod categories. Last year Gwawr was Chairman of Ceredigion’s Youth Forum where she chaired meetings, organised trips and promoted YFC to high schools throughout the county.

Gwawr said; “It is a privilege and great honour for me to be named Wales YFC’s Junior Member of the Year. It's an opportunity for me to help other members to achieve countless experiences I have had throughout the organization. I will do my best to speak on behalf of the younger members at the Wales YFC committees and I hope I can help to create or promote youth forums in counties across Wales.”

Both the Junior and Senior Member of the Year will be ambassadors for Wales YFC during the year and will be called upon as officers of the organisation to assist during various events.
