Judge, Gwyn Edwards, placed the calf reared by Michael Davies of Llidiartywaen YFC in Montgomery as the Supreme Champion. Rearing the Reserve Supreme Champion was Elin Jones from Ceredigion.

Edward Powell, from Radnor won the best stockman award which takes into consideration the way in which the members take care and prepare their calves for the competition along with the judging of a display board in which members detail the cost of rearing the calf. Judging the best stockman was Steven Feehan from ABP.

All competitors entered in the competition had the opportunity to sell their calves at the sale in the fair.

Steven Feehan, Group Livestock Manager for ABP UK stated, 'I am very impressed with the quality of the young Stock men and women, who presented outstanding cattle at this year's Welsh Winter Fair calf rearing competition.

ABP UK are committed to investing in facilities to support British agriculture and value the farming families that produce our superb Welsh Beef and Lamb. We are pleased to see the continued high quality coming through in the next generation of Welsh farmers, ensuring Wales' most important industry, cattle and sheep farming will continue in safe hands for years to come.

We would like to complement The Welsh Young Farmers Clubs for running this competition.'

Gwennan Davies, Wales YFC Competitions Committee Chairman stated,

“All members gained valuable stocmanship skills and experience of showing cattle from the competition and we were extremely pleased with the prices that the calves in the competition achieved at the sale. All of the calves were of excellent standard and it is extremely pleasing for our members when prices such as these are achieved.”
