USW graduate wins design commission

Mike Williams, MA Graphics Communication graduate, has been selected to design and produce art work to adorn the walls of a community building.

Clearstream, an IT infrastructure and services organisation, have developed a hub to house servers for local businesses and schools to use free of charge.

Paul Webb, CEO of Clearstream Group, hired Mike, through the Firefly Project, to design images for the walls of the hub. The brief was that the ‘Banksy-esque’ images must embody the community feel of the project.

The Firefly Project was launched by USW to focus on promoting innovation among students, supporting them in their business ventures and preparing them for the world of work.

Edwina Hart, Assembly Minister, officially opened the hub last week (pictured below).

Mike Caluan, Project Manager of The Firefly Project said ’This project is important because of the community focus. It may be a small project but it has made a big difference to the local area. Thank you to Edwina Hart for her kind words and support’.
