Second year Advertising Design students have been given exciting task of redesigning, advertising and promoting Arts Thread, a London based creative industries recruitment agency.
Arts Thread, who specialise in bridging the gap between education and industry for new creatives, have granted the students this superb opportunity after being approached by Lee Thomas, leader of the Advertising Design live brief module.
The students were invited to the company’s head office in Old Street, East London for a 2 hour brief on the project where the desired outcomes and timings were discussed. The companies founder will be visiting the University’s City campus twice in the coming months to critique the both the initial concepts and the completed work and decide upon the final campaign creative outcomes.
Don Parker, Advertising Design Senior Lecturer, said, “This is a fantastic opportunity for the students to demonstrate their creative and design potential to such a high profile creative company. It will enable them to gain vital ‘real world’ connections and is a prime example of the University’s superb reputation and close industry links.”
Emily Mcallister, a second year student, said, “ This project has given us the opportunity to create some unique work that we can include in our portfolios and CVs. It helps Advertising Design students at USW stand out against our competition and gives us an extra advantage when it comes to experience in the creative industry. We are definitely ready for the creative challenge that Arts Thread has given us and are already generating concepts and designs to present to the client in the coming weeks.”
