Union J Are Back In Town!

Union J Are Back In Town!

'Performing is the thing we love to do' - Union J band member JJ

Since appearing on ITV’s X Factor, one of Britain’s hottest boy bands Union J have spent a lot of time on the road - both in the UK and across Europe.

Josh, Jaymi, JJ and George – the boys who make up Union J – are now taking a short break ahead of the 2014 summer festival season.

Union J is the headline act at Ponty’s Big Weekend 2014, and are looking forward to returning to Ynysangharad War Memorial Park, Pontypridd, on Sunday, July 20.

Also appearing on the bill will be X Factor winner Sam Bailey, Big Reunion stars Damage, Rough Copy, Tich, The Parades and Hollywood Ending.

Ponty’s Big Weekend 2014 is proudly brought to you by Rhondda Cynon Taf Council, Orchard Entertainment and Capital FM. Tickets are now on sale.

Speaking ahead of Ponty’s Big Weekend, Union J member JJ said: “It's still surreal to have girls screaming over us at concerts - we are just four normal guys.

"Really my mum and dad are our biggest fans as they seem to know everything that we're about to do before I do..My little sister is eight and even has cut-outs of the whole band in her room!

At last year’s Ponty’s Big Weekend, Union J were the support act for chart-topping JLS. This time around they are themselves the headline act – and will no doubt attract thousands of fans as they make their return visit.

“Performing is the thing we love to do,” said JJ.

Ponty’s Big Weekend 2014 is sponsored by the Council’s Pontypridd Regeneration partner Costain. Each year the event attracts thousands of visitors from across the UK, helping place RCT on the music map and delivering a welcome boost for local businesses and tourism as it showcases the area to visitors from across the region and beyond.

Cllr Maureen Webber, Rhondda Cynon Taf Council’s Cabinet Member for Council Business and Public Relations said: “Every year, we work with partners to secure the top names in the industry for Ponty’s Big Weekend because we want it to be a success, we want to boost the economy and we want everyone to have a wonderful time here in RCT.

“This year will be no exception and we are pleased to have an exciting line-up that offers something for everyone, with a range of established and rising talents that we are sure will bring the crowds to our county borough.

“Ponty’s Big Weekend 2014 will also be different to previous years as it is taking place on a Sunday, when, traditionally, it was Saturday.”

Tickets are now on sale and can be obtained in person from the Coliseum Theatre, Aberdare; Muni Arts Centre, Pontypridd; Park & Dare Theatre, Treorchy.
