Treforest Road Safety Improvement Continues

Treforest Road Safety Improvement Continues

A £190,000 transport investment scheme continues to improve road safety throughout the community of Treforest

Rhondda Cynon Taf Council is carrying out the construction works after securing funding through the Welsh Government’s Road Safety Grant.

The programme of improvements includes introducing a new 20mph zone and traffic calming features on Broadway, Fothergill Street, Park Street and River Street. The project will not only reduce the speed of traffic in the area, but also provide safer and improved crossing points for the benefit of visitors and residents alike.

To facilitate the changes, the Council’s contractors will operate road closures so that speed reducing features can be introduced.

Road closures are programmed for:

River Street, Park Street and Fothergill Street from Tuesday 21st January to Friday 24th January from 7pm to 6am
Broadway from Monday 27th January to Friday 31st January and Monday 3rd February to Friday 7th February from 7pm to 6am.
Rhondda Cynon Taf Council’s Cabinet Member for Frontline Services Cllr Andrew Morgan, “Thanks to external funding, we are improving the roads in Treforest to make them safer for those who rely upon them.

“With any project such as this it is inevitable that there will be some disruptions and we will aim to keep these to a minimum and we apologise for any inconvenience experienced.

“I would urge residents to support us whilst these essential works are carried out as it is for their longer term benefit.”
