Cllr Andrew Morgan visited the site of the investment work
Pedestrian access improvements are being made to Treforest Industrial Estate Railway Station thanks to a major investment programme led by Rhondda Cynon Taf Council.
The £56,000 project is being funded by the Welsh Government South to ensure safer access to the platform for travellers.
The work is being carried out by Rhondda Cynon Taf Council’s contractor LGA Ltd and will concentrate on improvements to the railway station via Powys Road.
It consists of a new footway adjacent to the grass verge on Powys Road with drop kerb provision, anti-slip surfacing to the two flights of steps and general existing footway surfacing improvements. Throughout the duration of the work the existing footpath will remain open.
The Council’s Cabinet Member for Frontline Services Cllr Andrew Morgan explained, “We are grateful to the support of the Welsh Government in allowing us to carry out this much-needed work to improve access for pedestrians visiting Treforest Industrial Estate Railway Station.
“I am sure that once completed the improved access will delight those who regularly travel from the station.”
