Temporary road closure in Aberdare

CachedImage-1.jpeg

Roadworks will start in Aberdare on March 10

A temporary road closure and diversions are due to take place in Aberdare as the final phase of its impressive £7.7million regeneration project comes to a close.

High Street, Aberdare, will be closed from its junction with Monk Street in a north westerly direction on Sunday 10th March.

During this time two-way traffic will be permitted along Victoria Square under temporary traffic signal control. In order to implement the temporary traffic signal control, Bute Street will be made one way for the duration of the closure.

The closure is required to reduce the height of the road hump at the controlled pedestrian crossing near the Pop in Café on High Street.

A similar arrangement is also programmed for Sunday 17th March, however, the works contractor, Alun Griffiths, will make every effort to complete works on Sunday, March 10th.

Access will be maintained for emergency services vehicles and diversions will be put into place.Due to the temporary works, buses will not be able to use the bus stop at Aberdare Library.

Buses travelling towards Hirwaun will use the diversionary route via the by-pass after leaving the bus station. A temporary bus stop will be provided along the link road between the Gadlys and Tesco roundabouts.
