Mayor Cllr Ann Crimmings with Ravensburg pupils
Pupils from a secondary school in Rhondda Cynon Taf’s twin town in Germany were welcomed to the mayor’s parlour in Pontypridd during an exchange visit to the county borough.
Young people from Theresia Gerhardinger Realschule in Ravensburg and teaching staff from their exchange school, Aberdare Girls School, were greeted by Rhondda Cynon Taf’s Mayor, Cllr Ann Crimmings.
The two schools have been twinned for more than 20 years and pupils visit each other on a yearly basis. Cllr Crimmings told the students about her role as Mayor and Councillor and then took part in a question and answer session. The young visitors were then shown around the Municipal Buildings and were presented with a mayoral plaque.
"I was pleased to meet all the young people and I hope they enjoyed their visit and made some lasting friendships," said Cllr Crimmings.
"Town-twinning helps our local clubs, organisations, schools and councils make friends with our European neighbours and gain an understanding of each other’s cultures. The pupils and teachers from Ravensburg have all played a part in establishing and nurturing that friendship."
