South Wales Police officers have arrested six people and seized substantial quantities of cash and drugs following a number of raids at addresses in Barry and Rhydyfelin last week.
Drugs officers executed three warrants in Barry and a fourth in Rhydyfelin under the Misuse of Drugs Act and recovered around £14000 cash as well as cannabis and mephedrone (MCAT) and a cannabis factory containing some six plants. The total value of seized drugs being worth about £18,000.
The arrested people include 58 year old woman and a 61 year old man from Rhydyfelin and two men aged 35 and 38 and two women aged 27 and 32 from Barry. All six have been released on police bail.
Detective Sergeant Julian Kerslake from Barry CID said:
“Last week’s actions reflect our continuing efforts to disrupt the supply and distribution of controlled drugs across South Wales.
“Our actions were made possible following information we received from concerned members of the community.
“Whilst on this occasion the intervention was a positive one, I ask that the people of South Wales continue their support in respect of the war against drug suppliers and contact us with any information they may have.”
