The 1st Newtown Llantwit Scouts and Beavers held at charity sleepover at Llantwit Fardre Sports Centre
Leisure centres across Rhondda Cynon Taf are usually a hive of activity, but one regional Scouts group had other ideas in a bid to raise funds.
Having enjoyed some energetic games of badminton and then taking part in arts and crafts sessions at Llantwit Fardre Sports Centre, the 1st Newtown Llantwit Scouts and Beavers then decided to bed down for the night!
The Group spent a whole night doing absolutely nothing except sleep at the Council-run venue as part of a charity sleepover.
Cllr Robert Bevan, Cabinet Member for Sustainable Development, Leisure and Tourism, said: “It was a great pleasure to allow the Scouts and Beavers to take over our premises for the night. They were well behaved and had a great time.
“We were delighted to support the 1st Newtown Llantwit Scouts and Beavers in their fundraising endeavours.”
Lewis Kastin, Leader of the 1st Newtown Llantwit Scouts and Beavers Group, said: “I would like to thank Rhondda Cynon Taf Council for allowing us to make overnight use of Llantwit Fardre Sports Centre. This was a great opportunity for our Scouts and Beavers Group.”
Other unusual places the Scouts Group have slept in order to raise funds for their organisation is in climbing centres, police stations - and even on the pitch at the Millennium Stadium!
