Essential railway maintenance work on a level crossing will cause the temporary closures of a road in Aberdare during March.

Network Rail will be undertaking their annual safety inspection of the Robertstown level crossing along Wellington Street, Aberdare, which will close the route to through traffic.

The closures will take place on Sunday 17th March from 6am to 2pm or until works are complete.

During these hours motorists will need to use the following alternative route: -

From the north eastern side of the closure, proceed via Wellington Street, Abernant Roundabout, Ynys Roundabout and Aberdare Bypass (A4059) to the south western side of the closure. The route for drivers travelling in the opposite direction is the reverse of the above.
For vehicles exceeding the 12’ 00” height restriction at the railway bridge between the Abernant and Ynys Roundabouts, the alternative route is as follows:-

From the north eastern side of the closure, proceed via Wellington Street, Abernant Roundabout, Cwmbach Road, Canal Road, Cwmbach Roundabout, Gasworks Roundabout, A4059, Tinney’s Roundabout, Ynys Roundabout and Aberdare Bypass (A4059) to the south western side of the closure. The route for drivers travelling in the opposite direction is the reverse of the above.
Access for emergency services and pedestrians will be maintained.
