Rhondda patients suffer more hospital service closures.

To add to the growing list of services which have been moved or cut short owing to staff shortages last week saw the halting of physiotherapy services at Ysbyty George Thomas in Treorchy.
Patients have been told they will be treated at Ysbyty Cwm Rhondda instead. This latest closure comes just weeks after the eye clinic at Ysbyty Cwm Rhondda was closed due allegedly to "unprecedented levels of staff sickness."
Welsh Liberal Democrat Councillor Mike Powell said
"The South Wales Programme looked at the reorganisation of major critical care services across South Wales. Stressed throughout the consultation was the need to ensure that there are sufficient primary care services in the community.
"It seems that Cwm Taf are now trying to get a whole new set of changes through by the back door with no announcements and certainly no consultation. These changes are supposed to be short term but as we have seen in the past, once cut backs are implemented it is rare for services to be completely reinstated."
