Rhondda Cynon Taf Council is assisting South Wales Police and partner agencies in communicating a series of Road Closures, which could affect motorists travelling along the Rhigos Mountain Road.

The road closures are being enforced by South Wales Police to assist Mammoet Wind, in the transit of abnormal loads from Baldwin Crescent, Swansea to the Maerdy Wind Farm, which is located at the top of the Rhondda Valleys north of Maerdy and Treorchy.

Two convoys per day are programmed consisting of two very long vehicles travelling in tandem requiring the road to be completely closed to traffic from the Treherbert side of the mountain for an approximate 30 minute period, traffic are able to follow the convoy from the Hirwaun side (bottom Rhigos Road).

Road closures are anticipated between 10.15am – 11.15am and/or at 2pm to 3pm Monday to Friday up until April 2013.

Residents are advised that there will not necessarily be closures every day and information will be sent to various media daily by the contractor to confirm when movements are taking place.
