Responding to the BBC Wales poll conducted by ICM, a Plaid Cymru spokesperson said:
“Leanne Wood has been a breath of fresh air in Welsh politics in the past year and well received in all corners of Wales.
“Her personal approval figures, significantly greater than the other opposition leaders, make it clear that Plaid Cymru is the only alternative Welsh government.
“These results also show a clear appetite for further devolution, putting Plaid Cymru firmly in the mainstream of Welsh opinion.
“More than two-thirds of those polled supported greater local responsibility over policing, with little support for leaving those powers with Westminster.
“Also in line with previous polls is the finding that two-thirds were in favour of tax-varying powers for the National Assembly.
“Those are very substantial majorities which show that Plaid Cymru policies are in tune with the Welsh public.”
