Commenting on the publication of the Welsh Government’s new regeneration framework, ‘Vibrant and Viable Places’, Byron Davies AM, Shadow Minister for Transport & Regeneration, said:
“We welcome this latest framework to better target regeneration funding at our more deprived communities.
“Carwyn Jones’ Government must provide reassurances that such money will be wisely spent, because after 14 years of successive Labour Governments in the Assembly, many Welsh communities still rank amongst the poorest in Europe.
“Welsh Conservatives have long campaigned for a new vision to revitalise the Welsh high street so we warmly welcome plans for a Support Welsh High Streets Campaign.
“The high street has an important role to play in the local economy but currently too many are blighted by boarded up and vacant premises.
“A commitment to a new campaign, which encompasses town teams, a night-time strategy and uses the power of the internet; as highlighted in the recently published Welsh Conservatives policy document, will help harness the economic potential of our high streets.”
