Recycle Your Christmas Trees On The Kerbside

Christmas Trees

Christmas trees can now be collected as part of Rhondda Cynon Taf Council’s comprehensive kerbside recycling scheme throughout the County Borough.

For the first time the Council will collect trees from the kerbside following the festive season – but hope many residents can still deliver them to their nearest Community Recycling Centres too.

So instead of trying cut them up and put them in the black bag rubbish, they can now be collected on recycling day as part of the Council’s commitment to reduce waste sent to landfill.

All you have to do is break it up to a manageable size and leave it out for collection along with your recycling and refuse on your normal collection date.

Residents can also drop them off for recycling at the Community Recycling Sites which operate from 8.00am to 5.30pm on any day with the exception of Christmas Day and New Years Day. The five Community Recycling Sites can be located at:

Ty Amgen CRC, Llwydcoed, Aberdare, CF44 0BX
Cymmer Road, Dinas CF39 9BL
Nantygwyddon Road, Gelli CF41 7TL
North Road, Ferndale CF43 4RS
Taffs Fall Road, Treforest Industrial Estate, CF37 5TT
The Council’s Cabinet Member for Frontline Services Cllr Andrew Morgan said: “Over Christmas, the average household will throw away much more waste than usual. It is a busy period for all of us, but making your Christmas ‘green’ needn’t be a chore.

“Rhondda Cynon Taf Council continues to support people and is encouraging residents to keep up the good work during the festive period. The Council provides an accessible and innovative recycling service and with the added extra of being able to recycle Christmas trees on the kerbside this festive season, we hope more and more residents will realise the benefits of the scheme.”

Recycling has never been easier, with an efficient weekly collection service, free recycling bags easy-to-access community recycling centres, food recycling, collection of larger items, and an ever-increasing list of items that can be placed in the clear bags.

Refuse, recycling, kitchen, nappy and clinical waste collection dates will change slightly over the Christmas and New Year Period. The table below outlines these changes. Normal service for all collections, will resume on Monday 6th January 2014.
