Danielle Thomas is crowned 2013 Young Coach of the Year
The 2014 Rhondda Cynon Taf Council Sports Awards will take place in July, celebrating the ‘cream of the crop’ in the County Borough’s world of sport.
First we had the London 2012 Olympic Games. Now, in the year that the Commonwealth Games are held in Glasgow, the focus once again this summer will be heavily on sport.
Organised by the Council and its Sport RCT team, the Rhondda Cynon Taf Council Sport Awards - now into their fifth year - recognises and rewards the army of individuals who make an exceptional and essential contribution in keeping our grassroots sports clubs and organisations active, enabling them to go from strength to strength.
The annual rct Sport Awards also recognise the teams and individuals that achieved success in 2013 through hard work and commitment in their chosen sport.
There are 11 categories in total:

Cllr Robert Bevan, Cabinet Member for Sustainable Development, Leisure and Tourism, said: “During these tough economic times, the annual Rhondda Cynon Taf Council Sports Awards recognise and reward the great amount of hard work that goes on behind the scenes to keep our local grassroots sports scene so healthy.
“It is a time to reflect on the past 12 months and give all our sports stars and volunteers, young and old, a huge pat on the back. There are many people out there who work tirelessly - from sports coaches to officials, from those who cut the grass to those who organise the fixtures.
“It is these people that we want to show our appreciation to and acknowledge their efforts at the annual Rhondda Cynon Taf Sports Awards”
