Commenting on reports that 77 jobs are under threat as Stagecoach announces plans to close its Brynmawr depot, Welsh Conservative Shadow Minister for Business and Assembly Member for South Wales East, William Graham, said:
“Yet another hammer blow for jobs in south Wales and yet more questions for the Labour government to answer.
“This is a shock decision that will hit workers and their families hard.
“It’s now crucial that Welsh ministers speak to Stagecoach and do everything within their power to support them.
“The company’s criticism of their approach will ring alarm bells right across this region and I urge Carwyn Jones and Welsh Labour to confirm what collaboration has already taken place and what help has been provided.
“Stagecoach’s announcement follows confirmation of Avana Bakeries’ closure and it is clear to me that more is desperately required from Labour ministers for the south Wales economy.”
