Mayor Cllr Ann Crimmings with Sarah Davies and Porth pupils
Kind-hearted pupils from a Rhondda secondary school raised hundreds of pounds for one of the Mayor’s chosen charities when they held a coffee morning.
Rhondda Cynon Taf Mayor Cllr Ann Crimmings wrote to schools across the county borough asking for pupils to support her during her year in office. Pupils from Porth County Community School decided to hold a coffee morning in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support (RCT), raising £400.
Along with Macmillan, Cllr Crimmings has chosen to support Guide Dogs Cymru and Diabetes Peer Support for Children (RCT) as her charities during her year of office. Sarah Davies from Guide Dogs Cymru met the pupils at the Mayor’s parlour in Pontypridd and brought trainee guide dogs along with her.
Cllr Crimmings said: "I am so grateful to the pupils for their contribution to my charity appeal. It was a pleasure to meet everyone and I hope the young people's efforts will inspire others to support my chosen charities."
Donations to the Mayor’s Charity Appeal can be made through a new secure online service. Please visit the Mayor's page if you would like to make a donation. Or if you have an idea for a fundraising event, please contact the Mayoral Office in Pontypridd on 01443 494061.
