Post 16 transport success for Ysgol Gyfun Rhydywaun

Hywel Price Coridor.jpg

It is with pleasure I announce that the parents, pupils, Governors and staff of Ysgol Gyfun Rhydywaun have been successful in their campaign to ensure the continuation of transport for post-16 pupils residing in Merthyr County Borough Council to Rhydywaun. The withdrawal of this provision had initially been recommended by the Council as part of its cost cutting/efficiency exercise from September 1st 2014. Following a vigorous campaign from the parents, pupils, Governors, staff and various politicians, Merthyr County Borough Council have announced that the provision of free transport for all post 16 pupils residing three or more miles from the school will continue.

I wish to publicly thank all of you for your contribution to this victory – a victory that not only ensures the future of post 16 education at Rhydywaun, but also Welsh medium education in its entirety throughout the county of Merthyr.
