Rhondda Cynon Taf Council is proud to announce its sensational line-up for Ponty’s Big Weekend 2014!

Festival favourites The Parades, Britain’s Got Talent’s Loveable Rogues and Tich will also take to the stage – alongside ‘soon-to-be-confirmed’ local talent - for one of the biggest concerts of the summer in South Wales.

Tickets go on sale at 9am on Thursday, May 1!

Rhondda Cynon Taf Council, and event partners Orchard Entertainment and Capital FM, have once again joined forces to host Ponty’s Big Weekend in the beautiful YnysangharadWarMemorial Park, Pontypridd. Pontypridd Regeneration partner Costain will sponsor the event.

The event attracts thousands of visitors from across the UK, helping place RCT on the music map and delivering a welcome boost for local businesses and tourism as it showcases the area to visitors from across the region and beyond.

Cllr Maureen Webber, Rhondda Cynon Taf Council’s Cabinet Member for Council Business and Public Relations said: “Every year, we work with partners to secure the top names in the industry for Ponty’s Big Weekend because we want it to be a success, we want to boost the economy and we want everyone to have a wonderful time here in RCT.

“This year will be no exception and we are pleased to announce an exciting line-up that offers something for everyone, with a range of established and rising talents we are sure will bring the crowds to our county borough.

“Ponty’s Big Weekend 2014 will also be different to previous years as it is taking place on a Sunday, when, traditionally, it was Saturday.

“Of course, in the coming weeks, we will also be announcing the local groups, individuals and talented residents who will be taking the stage at Ponty’s Big Weekend alongside these top names, giving them a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to perform at such an event.

“Ponty’s Big Weekend provides a massive boost to our local economy and businesses and allows us to showcase the beauty of our county borough to thousands of visitors from South Wales and beyond.”

Dave Driscoll, of music promoter Orchard Entertainment, who collaborate closely with Rhondda Cynon Taf Council on Ponty’s Big Weekend, said: “We always try to book the most popular acts in the country for the people of RCT to enjoy, and I think we’ve delivered another strong line-up with a broad appeal for 2014.

“In the best traditions of Ponty’s Big Weekend over a number of years, it will be another great summer event for the area, and a great boost to local businesses.”

Brian Greaves, Senior Community Relations Manager for Costain, said: “Costain is really pleased to be supporting Ponty’s Big Weekend again this year and continuing a relationship with the local authority and the promoters that dates back eight years.

“Union J and Sam Bailey provide another quality line-up this year and should ensure the event is a great success and draw big crowds to Pontypridd.”

Tickets are on sale from Thursday, May 1. They can be obtained in person from the Coliseum Theatre, Aberdare; Muni Arts Centre, Pontypridd; Park & Dare Theatre, Treorchy.
