Plaid Cymru leader, Leanne Wood, today announced that the Plaid Cymru group in the Assembly will be operating under a focussed and strategic five-strong cabinet team. Referring to it as Wales’s cabinet in waiting, Leanne said that the team would reflect the more streamlined and focused style of government that Plaid Cymru will adopt. Plaid Cymru’s cabinet team will be deliver strong and energetic leadership to enable our nation to unlock its vast potential.
The five strong cabinet team, led by Leanne Wood, will include:
Deputy Leader in the Assembly, Shadow Minister for Health and Well-being – Elin Jones
Shadow Minister for Economy and Enterprise– Rhun ap Iorwerth
Shadow Minister for Education, Skills and the Welsh language – Simon Thomas
Shadow Minister for Sustainable Communities, Energy and Food – Llyr Gruffydd
Working together with Party of Wales Leader, Leanne Wood, the four Plaid Cymru Shadow Ministers will be key in communicating Plaid Cymru's vision to the Welsh public and policies during the build- up to the next Welsh General Election. The five strong cabinet team will be responsible for holding the current government to account and for developing and presenting Plaid Cymru’s 2016 programme.

Over the next three years the team will work to develop Plaid Cymru's 2016 programme for government while holding the current Welsh government to account. We are focussed on delivery and outcomes and we are determined that the next Welsh government will have the programme in place to unlock Wales’s potential as a successful and prosperous nation.

With the launch of our exciting policy proposals to recruit a thousand doctors this week, we have started the year as we mean to go on.
