Performers raise the roof at gala concert

Music lovers enjoyed a great evening’s entertainment when the annual Rhondda Fach Gala Concert was staged in Tylorstown.

Held at the Rhondda Fach Sports Centre, the concert starred Rhydian Roberts and the Tylorstown-based Pendyrus Male Choir. Conductor and musical director for the concert was Stuart Roberts.

The concert was organised by Rhondda Fach Music Partnership, an organisation that grew out of Communities First as part of the then Pontygwaith group to regenerate music back into the valley. Local resident Cyril Jones and members of Pendyrus Male Choir assisted with organising the event.

Rhondda Cynon Taf Mayor, Cllr Ann Crimmings was among guests at the concert, along with a host of current and former Councillors, as well as the Lord Lieutenant of Mid Glamorgan, Kate ThomasCllr Crimmings said: “The gala concert was hugely enjoyable and well-attended. Now in its tenth year, the concert has grown into the biggest cultural event to be staged in the Rhondda Fach annually, so much so that it is attracting Rhondda exiles from many parts of the UK."
