Parents power wins through – and apathy gets a kick up the backside

Earlier today we learned that a judge had ruled in favour of a judicial review brought on behalf of parents in RCT opposed to the Labour Cabinet's decision to cut nursery education.
The process came about as a result of a huge amount of work put in by a central core of parents who were not prepared to roll over and allow the education of their children and others to be affected.
Whilst they had support from us and other opposition politicians this was driven by parents with no political axe to grind, just secure in their belief that the decision was wrong. Whilst some would have just sat and complained these people got together and did something.
It is heartening in these times of general apathy over so many things to see that there are still people who care enough to not only get angry but to then turn that into something positive and do something about it.
We take our hats off to them
