Dear Councillors Bates, Smith, Webber, Williams, Powderhill, Carter, Morgan,Cass and Leyshon,
Having seen the three options for the refurbishment of the Lido in Ynysyngharad War Memorial Park from the consultants that your administration paid for out of the people's pockets I, amongst many others, think that they least deserve an answer to these questions.
Firstly why did you ignore all three of the consultants proposals in the first place? Secondly, why did you support the administration's own option and give the people of Pontypridd the absolute bare minimum for the refurbishment?
Why did you say in your manifesto that the pool was staying? Could you kindly, and individually if possible, but collectively I'm sure will suffice, inform your electors and my self why did you not fight to get the people of Pontypridd at least one of the options that were put to you?
And can I suggest that you do not try and hide behind the oft used phrase "cuts" to cover your collective failures in RCT, Wales and the UK? The people of Pontypridd are not stupid. They ask me on a near daily basis as how you can support borrowing £50 million, on top of what is being spent elsewhere in RCT, to spend in Aberdare on a new replacement sports centre and yet not fight the same for Pontypridd.
And indeed in the run up to the May 2012 council elections you said that your party manifesto was fully costed and included for the retention of the paddling pool so that blows any option of using the spurious "cuts" excuse out of the water too.
I'll not be holding my breath for the local RCT Labour councillors to beat a path to the door of the Pontypridd Observer with answers, but then the silence will speak volumes.
Cllr Mike Powell

Is this a genuine letter of
Is this a genuine letter of concerns for Pontypridd or just this councillor yet again trying to get himself in the press? I saw him on the TV over Xmas about bin collections, have to say I dont know him and never really heard of him other than a friend lives in his area and says hes a bit of a "nutter"
I think what you should be
I think what you should be asking is, are there any other councillors standing with the people who voted to keep the paddling pool open.
And what about the labour pledge before the election not to get rid of the paddling pool?
From personal experience the fact is some Labour councillors lie and deceive and the rest know this and allow it to happen.
All they do is drag the Good ones down with them makes them all look bad
That's the stigma the Labour Party in Rhondda Cynon Taf have to endure when they act like sheep and say nothing.
Since when have the Labour
Since when have the Labour Party ever honored their word to the working classes and especially to these valleys.
There is one former Labour leader that should be brought before the International War Tribunal at the Hague, instead he laughs at you all.

I wonder where he got all his money from..tax free, as I know for a fact that he was in debt at the time of John Smiths sad premature passing!
We the public are letting them get away with murder.

New Petition Set Up To Have Paddling Pool Classed As Listed Building
Despite originally saying that the Council would need listed building consent to remove the paddling pool in Ynysangharad Park, CADW have now changed their minds and said that is not the case.
A new Assembly petition has been set up asking the Welsh Gvernment to classify the paddling pool as a listed buliding. It can be signed at the official Assembly petition site on link

Open Letter To Ponty’s
Open Letter To Ponty’s Labour Councillors. Why Didn’t You Fight For Pool?
They have sold both their souls, and the principles that the founding fathers of the labour movement fought, and indeed some were prepared to die for.
Today's councillors are a disgusting blight on the memories of people like my Grandfather who was a true Labour man. One whom fought all his life for miner's rights to a decent livng standard, which included recreational facilities!
