Free hire of mobility scooters and wheelchairs are now available for people with mobility issues visiting Pontypridd as part of an innovative project by Rhondda Cynon Taf Council.
The Council’s Vision Products has spearheaded the scheme where people can utilise specialist mobility equipment within Pontypridd town centre.
Vision Mobility Hire Pontypridd is situated at “The Recycling Shop”on Church Street and from today (September 3rd) customers can hire the very latest mobility scooters and wheelchairs that will help individuals who visit the town.
The shop is based at ground level with easy access for all shoppers and members of the public to hire motorised scooters and wheelchairs for free to visit the shops and attractions of Pontypridd.
The shop is open Tuesday to Friday 10 am to 3pm and although pre-booking for mobility equipment is advised, it is possible to visit the shop to hire a wheelchair or scooter completely free of charge. The equipment is allocated in slots of mornings, afternoons or all day.
Members of the public can come to the premises with two items of identification and register free as a member of Vision Mobility Hire Pontypridd. Then they will receive a membership card which can be used on subsequent visits.
Cllr Mike Forey, Cabinet Member for Partnerships and Adult Social Services, said: “Vision Mobility Pontypridd provides a valuable service to people with mobility issues and a warm welcome is extended to users and their families.
“Our trained staff are warm and friendly and are on hand to offer advice and information to customers and their families on the products available.”
