Missing man Ben Thompson: Public thanked for continued support

34-year-old Ben Thompson

South Wales Police is continuing to search for missing 34-year-old Ben Thompson from Haverfordwest.

Ben Thompson was in Cardiff city centre on Saturday, February 2 for the Wales v Ireland Six Nations game. He attended Saturday’s game at the Millennium Stadium and was seen by friends in Mill Lane at around 6.30pm.

CCTV footage shows Ben crossing Leckwith Road intoLawrenny Avenue at 7.17pm on Saturday and new images capture him minutes later walking down a lane at the end of Lawrenny Avenue towards wasteland.

Search teams involving around 50 officers are continuing to focus their efforts in this area particularly the woodlands and River Ely. The police helicopter has assisted with open land searches.

Chief Inspector Eddie Ough said:

“We have had a positive response following yesterday’s press appeal and wish to thank all those who have called us.

“The information they have provided has confirmed that we are searching the right area.

“Ben’s family, friends and colleagues are assisting the investigation by speaking with the local community to gather further information and they are also arranging additional leaflets and posters for which we are grateful.”

Ben is described as 5ft 9in tall, with short brown hair, blue eyes, and was last seen wearing brown leather lace-up boots, blue jeans, and a white shirt with blue thin stripes.

Anyone who has seen Mr Thompson or has any information which may assist is asked to contact the Command Room at Cardiff Bay Police Station on 02920 338 465.
