World Mental Health Week is coming to Rhondda Cynon Taf with a whole host of events taking place throughout the County Borough.
From open days and countryside walks to comedy quiz nights to bike rides and circus skills, World Mental Health Week this year celebrates changing perceptions and attitudes towards people with mental health issues.
Rhondda Cynon Taf Council’s Community Services Team have planned a whole host of activities from Friday 4th to Friday 11th of October.
The aim of the week is also to raise awareness and challenge the stigma and discrimination people with mental health conditions still experience in their day-to-day lives. With so many events on offer, it will also help to demonstrate how all of these activities can aid recovery from mental health problems.
“We want to heighten public awareness about the importance of mental health and improving attitudes about mental disorders, which is why events such as World Mental Health Week is so very important to helping us achieve our aim.
“During the week we will engage with people and organisations throughout the County Borough to help raise awareness of mental health and wellbeing issues by working with individuals who have mental health issues, their carers, friends and families.
“With such a large selection of events on offer, we are sure that Mental Health Week in Rhondda Cynon Taf will make a positive effect on the lives of people with a mental health disorder, while also helping to change the perception and attitudes of all members of society when discussing such an important issue.”
