Mayor's civic carol service

Mayor's civic carol service

Rhondda Cynon Taf Council Choir performed at the service

Festive music filled the air at the annual Civic Christmas Carol Service, held at St Catherine’s Church, Pontypridd on Wednesday, December 11, hosted by Rhondda Cynon Taf Mayor, Cllr Ann Crimmings.

The service was led by the vicar of St Catherine’s, the Rev Peter Lewis. Rhondda Cynon Taf Council Choir performed three songs, while the readings were undertaken by The Mayor, Deputy Leader of the Council, Cllr Paul Cannon; The Lord Lieutenant for Mid Glamorgan Mrs Kate Thomas, Nicola Matthews, Mayor’s Chaplain Father Silvio Briffa and the Council’s Group Director of Community and Children's Services, Ellis Williams.

Donations totalling £140 collected during the service will go to the Mayor’s Charity Appeal. Cllr Crimmings has chosen to support the charities Guide Dogs Cymru, Macmillan Cancer Support (RCT) and Diabetes Peer Support for Children (RCT) during her year of office.

Cllr Crimmings said: “Thank you to everyone who attended the annual civic carol service, which brings together people of all ages to celebrate the true meaning of Christmas.”

The congregation and the choir enjoyed tea, coffee and mince pies after the service.
