Tŷ Hafan has made clear its intention to further develop as a centre of excellence for children’s palliative care by appointing Mandy Brimble as its new Lead Practitioner for Education and Research.
Mandy has joined Tŷ Hafan following a successful nine year career as a Children’s Nursing Lecturer at Cardiff University’s School of Nursing and Midwifery Studies. Prior to that she worked as a Health Visitor and Children’s Nurse in general medicine, day surgery and outpatient services.
In addition to her Nursing Diploma, Mandy has a BSc in Community Health Studies, is a registered nurse prescriber and holds a Post Graduate Certificate and a Masters in Education. Mandy, from Penarth, has a range of experience in submitting published articles to professional journals and Higher Education Academy publications.
Her new role has been created to drive and shape a new education and research service for Tŷ Hafan. “This is an exciting and innovative role which requires strong leadership in research, education and training alongside the ability to build Tŷ Hafan as a centre of excellence for paediatric palliative care,” said Mandy.
“Tŷ Hafan has always been committed to high standards of education for care services staff,” she said. “The new role will build on existing provisions and facilitate a pro-active approach where we continue to adopt evidence based practice informed by research.
She added: “On a personal note, I have really admired Tŷ Hafan for many years and I feel privileged to be a part of this wonderful charity. I have been really encouraged since starting my new role and feel I can make a real difference to Tŷ Hafan’s future with the skills I have to offer.”
