Love Where You Live Awards

Love Where You Live Awards

Nominations are now open for the 2014 Love Where You Live Awards

Now is the time to nominate your environmental heroes for this year’s Love Where You Live Awards.

Organised by Rhondda Cynon Taf Council, the Love Where You Live Awards are your chance to bestow praise and recognition upon all of the ‘green-minded’ people out there who do their bit for the environment and for their community.

Do you know of a recycling champion in your community or do you know someone who carries a spare bag to collect litter from the County Borough streets? Or perhaps you help your elderly neighbour to recycle?

If so, then get nominating them today for a coveted Love Where You Live award.

The closing date for entries is Monday, March 31.

The scheme rewards individuals, businesses, schools or local communities throughout the County Borough that have championed and introduced positive, inspiring and beneficial changes to the environment.

If you know of anyone that you feel deserves an award, then you can nominate them before March 31.

There are 13 categories for the competition and there is no limit on the amount of different categories each applicant enters.

• Community Recycling Champion

• Most Innovative Environmental Project

• BestSchool Environmental Initiative

• Best Community Project

• Best Environmental Partnership Initiative

• Best Environmental Service Team of the Year

• School Environmental Champion (Pupil)

• School Environmental Champion (Teacher)

• Local Authority Environmental Champion

• Business Award

• Best Kept Community

• People Award

• Best Poster Design

Entering the Love Where You Live Awards is simple; you just need to fill out a short entry form that must be submitted by March 31, 2014.

Applications will then go before an independent panel of judges and the chosen finalists will be visited during May before the overall winner of each category is decided.

The awards will be presented at a ceremony at the Muni Arts Centre, Pontypridd, on Tuesday, June 24.

Cllr Andrew Morgan, Cabinet Member for Frontline Services, said: “The Love Where You Live annual awards are one of the highlights of our calendar each year.

“The event highlights all of the fantastic work that is going on within our communities, focusing on the people and projects that truly are making a difference to all of our lives - people who are committed to improving the local environment for the benefit of everyone.

“This is our opportunity to not only congratulate these remarkable people on their achievements, but also to encourage others to follow suit. By working together we can make Rhondda Cynon Taf an even cleaner and greener place to live, work and visit.”
