Tŷ Hafan, the family hospice for young lives, is going into the sweet-shop business.
Next Monday, the 19 August, and for a limited time only, Tŷ Hafan staff and volunteers will take over the running of the Kingdom of Sweets store in St David’s Centre, Cardiff. Thousands of products from giant gobstoppers to creamy fudge, fizzy cola bottles and Olympic marshmallows will be available at discounts of more than 60%, with all proceeds going to Tŷ Hafan.
The official opening of the Tŷ Hafan sweet-shop takes place at 11:30am on 19th August and will be conducted by Real Radio’s breakfast show presenters Jagger and Woody. This is the latest of a number of initiatives to take place at St David’s Centre since Tŷ Hafan was chosen as its Charity of the Year earlier this year.
Ray Hurcombe, Chief Executive at Tŷ Hafan, says: “We are delighted to have been given this opportunity and reiterate our thanks to St David’s Centre for their support. It costs more than £3million each year to provide our services and much of our income is generated by public donations and fundraising. Support such as this is vital to helping us continue to support life-limited children and their families throughout Wales.”
St David’s Centre Director Steven Madeley said: “The work that Tŷ Hafan undertakes throughout Wales is vital to support individuals and families with life-limiting conditions. As our charity partner of the year, we’re pleased to be able to provide Tŷ Hafan with a great fundraising opportunity and we hope our shoppers will visit Kingdom of Sweets over the next week to support this cause.”
