Well known political blogger Guido Fawkes has been pointing out the payments made by Welsh Shadow Secretary of state and Pontypridd MP Owen Smith to the GMB union as rent for his Pontypridd offices.
Apparently Owen has been claiming around £1,550 a month in rent which goes to the GMB who can then afford to donate money to the Labour party. Taxpayers' money.
GMB House is of course also occupied by Mick Antoniw the Assembly Member for Pontypridd. His offices must obviously be a little less salubrious as he claimed back only £3325 last year for rent to the union.
His register of interests at the Assembly reveals that he received financial sponsorship for his election to the tune of £5000 from none other than the GMB Trade Union. He also lists under gifts and corporate hospitality: Legal Service/Advice for Asbestos Recovery of Medical Costs (Wales) Bill: Thompsons Solicitors (£7,000) GMB and UNITE trade unions (£15,801).
Taxpayers' money being recycled into Labour coffers. Whilst the Labour council pays full time union reps to the tune of £125,000 a year and cuts front line services. Disgraceful.
