Healthcare Inspectorate Wales Response to Professor June Andrew’s Trusted to Care Report

Healthcare Inspectorate Wales

Healthcare Inspectorate Wales have today received the Trusted to Care Report, regarding Princess of Wales Hospital and Neath Port Talbot Hospital at Abertawe Bro Morgannwg University Health Board.
HIW Chief Executive, Dr Kate Chamberlain says:

“The findings of today’s report are concerning. The report clearly identifies failures in basic standards of care for patients and, although not present in every case, this is clearly unacceptable and should not be tolerated.

“Our programme of inspections during 2014-15 will cover issues identified by the report, but we will be considering carefully the content of the report and ensuring that our approach is tackling the right issues in the right way.

“In the coming weeks we will be discussing with the Welsh Government and other bodies such as the Community Health Councils how we can use our collective intelligence and focus our activities to provide ongoing assurance to the public.”
