There are only 4 days left to have your say on new practice guidance developed for social care managers in Wales.

Launched at the end of November last year, the draft new guidance, which is called The Social Care Manager, aims to provide a practical tool to aid social care managers in their practice. This in turn will contribute to improving outcomes for people using social care services and their carers.

Sheila Lyons of the Care Council, who led on the development of the guidance said, “This will be a dynamic document and will be reviewed and updated from time to time. It provides guidance in key areas and social care managers are expected to use their professional judgement and apply the general principles of the Code of Practice.

“We’ve already had some responses to the consultation, but we want to hear from as many people as possible to make sure the guidance reflects current good practice and the experiences of workers on the front line. Therefore, we’re very keen for managers and key stakeholders to get back to us with their views before the closing date of Friday, 15 February.”

The consultation closes on Friday, 15 February 2013. It is anticipated the final version of The Social Care Manager will be available in the spring of this year.
