Cllrs David and Stacey with the Mayor

Kind-hearted members of Llantwit Fardre Sports Club, near Pontypridd, have donated £1,000 to the Mayor of Rhondda Cynon Taf’s Charity Appeal.

The 49 members, including local councillors John David and Graham Stacey, have been raising money for charity for over 20 years and regularly donate to the Mayor’s Charity Appeal.

Each Saturday, all of the members pay a pound and wait for the bonus ball number in the Saturday Lottery, with £30 going to the winner and £19 saved for charity.

Rhondda Cynon Taf Mayor Cllr Ann Crimmings has chosen to support Guide Dogs Cymru, Macmillan Cancer Support (RCT) and Diabetes Peer Support for Children (RCT) during her year in office. Cllr John David and Cllr Graham Stacey presented the Mayor with a cheque for £1,000 for these good causes.

Mayor Cllr Crimmings said: “I am so grateful to the sports club members for the effort they have put into helping the Mayor’s Charity Appeal over the years. Their donation this year will go to charities which benefit people of all ages across Rhondda Cynon Taf.”

Donations to the Mayor’s Charity Appeal can also be made through a secure online service. Please visit the Mayor's page if you would like to make a donation. Or if you have an idea for a fundraising event, please contact the Mayoral Office on 01443 494061 or email mayor@rctcbc.gov.uk
