Funeral-goer assaulted on way home: Rhydyfelin

Police in Pontypridd are appealing for information after a funeral-goer was assaulted only hours after burying his sister.

At around 7pm on Friday, 13th December the 63 year-old victim was walking along Poplar Road, Rhydyfelin, making his way home from his sister’s funeral, when he was attacked and punched in the face.

He fell to the floor and was kicked in the back of the head.

A group of about four young men which included the two suspects then ran off towards Hawthorn Leisure Centre.

The victrim was taken to Royal Glamorgan Hospital where he was treated for facial injuries.

Officers believe the male who punched him was wearing a hat with flaps covering his ears at the time of the incident.
