Local Safeguarding Children Board
The Rhondda Cynon Taff (RCT) Local Safeguarding Children Board (LSCB) has today published its first Child Practice Review report.
The Serious Case Review process has been replaced by the Child Practice Review process supported by Welsh Government Guidance which came into effect on the 1st January 2013. The Child Practice Review process highlights practice and organisational learning, and identifies actions that can be taken to further improve multi agency safeguarding practice.
The RCT LSCB very much welcomed the opportunity to pilot the Child Practice Review Project which entailed working alongside Welsh Government and the Care and Social Services Inspectorate Wales. Our involvement in this new approach has ensured that, in RCT, we have contributed to the development of national guidance in this innovative way of working.
The new system is very much focussed on improving multi agency practice, involving practitioners who deliver frontline services to children and families in learning events. Feedback from practitioners who have attended these events has been very positive, and the learning from the review is very much practice based.
A person from RCTC said: “I am pleased to note that there has been positive progress made in relation to the health and development of the child since the incident reported on in the Child Practice Review report.
There are learning points which have been drawn to the attention of the Local Safeguarding Children Board from the Review which are being incorporated into safeguarding practices of relevant Agencies in this area.”
