Tickets are on sale for the Festival of Remembrance concert at Rhondda Sports Centre, Ystrad, on Sunday, November 3
Tickets are on sale for the Festival of Remembrance concert, which will takes place at Rhondda Sports Centre, Ystrad, on Sunday, November 3.
The annual event, organised by Rhondda Cynon Taf Council for the first time, in association with the Royal British Legion, will be the perfect opportunity to remember our Armed Forces, past and present.
This show is expected to prove popular with the public so book your tickets now to avoid any disappointment. It will be the perfect way to remember those local residents currently serving in the Armed Forces, along with those who made the ultimate sacrifice during times of war and conflict.
There will be performances by The Regimental Band and Corps of Drums of the Royal Welsh, with Director of Music, Major Denis Burton; Pendyrus Male Choir, with Musical Director Stewart Roberts and soloist Ashley Richards. The host for the evening will be John Asquith.
Pendyrus Male Choir, formed in 1924, has performed all over the world. Proud of its Welsh tradition, the choir is a member of the Welsh Music Guild and a member of the Welsh Amateur Music Federation.
The Regimental Band and and Corps of Drums of the Royal Welsh has a versatility and style of repertoire which is both unique and highly popular - whether on parade as a marching band or on the concert platform playing marching and popular tunes.
The band is the last surviving all brass band left within British Army Music and are favourites at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff during the Six Nations rugby championship.
They have made many television appearances and have performed all over the world - as well as many times for our Royal Family.
Cllr Craig Middle, Rhondda Cynon Taf Council’s Cabinet Member for Social Justice, said: “I hope as many people as possible will support this Festival of Remembrance in our County Borough.
“It will be our chance to say thank you and to remember our gallant servicemen and women, past and present. As well as being a very poignant concert, I am sure it will also be a highly-entertaining evening.”
The Festival of Remembrance will complement Rhondda Cynon Taf Council’s Armed Forces Community Covenant, which was officially launched last year, building upon the Council’s important work to date and the existing strong relationship and respect between armed forces personnel and local communities.
The Festival of Remembrance will take place at Rhondda Sports Centre, Ystrad, on Sunday, November 3 (7pm). Tickets, priced £6, are available from the Box Office on 08000 147111. All proceeds go to the Royal British Legion.
