Fashion student designs tote bag for major retail website

A Fashion Design student at the University of South Wales will see her design feature on tote bags across the UK after winning a national competition.

Nia Richards, who is in her third year of study at City Campus in Newport, entered the first student design competition run by SalesGossip, a website which publishes details of sales in the fashion and beauty sector.

Her ‘Wild Monochrome’ design fought off competition from over 100 students across the UK to be selected as the winner via a public vote, and will now appear on SalesGossip’s exclusive tote bags.

Irene Dee, programme leader for Fashion Design at City Campus, congratulated Nia and said: “Nia’s design was fantastic and a thoroughly deserved winner of the competition. To have her design featured on these tote bags is a very promising step towards a successful career in the fashion industry.”

Neill Vandenberg, marketing executive at SalesGossip added: “We are thrilled that the public chose Nia’s design. It will be produced on our tote bags and hit UK shops in around a month’s time.”
