Rhondda Cynon Taf Mayor Cllr Ann Crimmings organised the Easter event in order to provide family fun for everyone, while also showcasing the outstanding natural beauty of Dare Valley Country Park and raise funds for her 2014 Charity Appeal.

Scores of people flocked to the park in Aberdare on Saturday and Sunday to search for clues and eggs, with each child who finished the Easter Egg Hunt receiving a sweet treat.

All proceeds from the day went to the Mayor’s Charity Appeal, which this year is benefitting:

Macmillan Cancer Support (RCT)
Guide Dogs Cymru
Diabetes Peer Support for Children (RCT)
Mayor Cllr Crimmings, who donned rabbit ears to get into the spirit of the event, said: “I am so pleased so many families were able to join me for the Charity Easter Egg hunt, raising money for excellent causes while also having a lovely day out.

“Dare Valley Country Park is one of my favourite places in the county borough and is a great place to spend time – all through the year.

“It has a programme of events, including family fun days, arts and crafts, nature detectives, free outdoor activities and music in the courtyard, alongside activities you can enjoy every day of the week. Its adventure playground is great for kids and you can pack a picnic or grab a delicious bite to eat in the café.

“Its lake is surrounding by outstanding biodiversity packed with birds, bugs, insects and plants to discover and, of course, it has a network of walks and trails to enjoy, from a gentle stroll pushing baby in a pram to an exhilarating adventure quest designed for kids and spectacular mountain-top hikes.

“I hope those who came to the Easter Egg hunt had a wonderful time and know how grateful I am to them for their support for my charities.

“I also hope they enjoyed their time in the park and come back soon!”

The Easter Egg Hunt forms part of an exciting programme of events for Mayor Cllr Crimmings, which also includes the forthcoming Mayor's Charity Golf Tournament and the Elvis Tribute Night and the Welsh Three Peaks Challenge
